‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ Cast, Plot Spoilers: ‘More Connected to Human Issues’ Says Kurt Russell

Director James Gunn has long been hyping everyone up for the sequel to Guardians of the Galaxy in which he is currently doing. Kurt Russell, who plays Ego the Living Planet, has hinted what the plot of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is generally going to be about.

The announcement of Russell joining the cast is one of the many exciting updates fans have gotten so far. Russell hinted the general plot of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 without giving specific details away during an interview at the Toronto International Film Festival, according to Collider. He says, “This is going to be one of the more — probably for Marvel, it’s more connected to human issues, family issues, parental issues and issues that sons and daughters have with their moms and dads and their family tree, where they come from.”

Kurt Russell will be playing Ego the Living Planet, the father to Chris Pratt’s Peter Quill in the movie. As Russell’s spoiler suggests, Ego’s relationship with Star Lord is one of the central plots in the movie.

Meanwhile, Chris Pratt has also given some hints in an interview on Good Morning America, according to Just Jared. In the interview, Pratt mentions which point in time the sequel will be. He says, “It picks up a couple months after the events of the first movie…I can’t say much, but it’s going to be the spectacle movie of all time…”

Other plot details remain a mystery but it can be expected that the sequel will be a mix of emotional relationships and action-packed scenes.

Vin Diesel, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, Michael Rooker, Glenn Close and Bradley Cooper among others are confirmed to reprise their roles. Pom Klementieff and Elizabeth Debicki were announced as one of the new faces in the ensemble cast. Sylvester Stallone is also going to appear in the movie as a Nova Corps member.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is scheduled to premiere on May 5, 2017.
