In Brad Pitt’s first public statement following his confirmation of divorce with Angelina Jolie, he says he is currently focused on his family’s situation.
Pitt was expected to promote the IMAX film Voyage of Time: Life’s Journey as he is the narrator of Terrence Malick’s documentery film that took the filmmaker over thirty years to create. It is expected to arrive in theaters on Oct. 17.
The World War Z actor decided to skip the film’s screening to dodge off unwanted publicity from his divorce with estranged wife, 42-year-old Jolie.
“Terrence’s Voyage of Time is an incredibly beautiful and unique experimental IMAX film for children and families chronicling the birth of time,” according to a statement the actor released to Us Weekly.
He says he is grateful to be part of “a fascinating and educational project” and does not want to divert the attention away from the film which he encourages everyone to see.
“I’m currently focused on my family situation,” the 52-year-old actor said.
Pitt has always put his children first amidst the controversy surrounding his highly-publicized split with the Maleficent actress. He previously asked for privacy for the family to protect the well-being of their six kids: Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 8.
The Tomb Raider actress filed a divorce “for the health of the family” according to Jolie’s attorney, as per Vanity Fair. The divorce was filed a day after the alleged altercation that happened in the family’s flight in their private jet with Pitt “wasted.”
The actor is currently under investigation for claims of child abuse after an anonymous caller alerted the L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services of the incident.
Jolie asks for sole physical custody of their six children granting Brad Pitt visitation rights, but Pitt does not agree. Sources say he is willing to go on a legal war to fight for joint custody.
Meanwhile, Angelina Jolie is pursuing her career plans to teach in London School of Economics next year.
