‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ : Marvel Changes Kurt Russell’s Joke

Recently, it was revealed that there was little change in the way Kurt Russell had to word his joke in a clip of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 released during Comic-con.

According to Cosmic Book News, the footage shown at Comic-con was a scene between Kurt Russell’s character Ego and Dave Bautista’s Drax and Ego tells Drax that he has a p***s. Russell then pointed out afterwards that he originally said d***k.

The released scene has Drax asking Ego how he managed to father a child, since Ego is known to be Peter Quill’s long-lost father. In the comics, Ego is a living planet that also takes on a human form.

In an interview with GQ.com, Russell stated that they did a few different versions of the joke, with the original line being “I’ve got a dick,” and someone from Marvel suggested to use p***s. Even until now they still did not know which one was funnier. Director James Gunn ended up choosing to go with p***s and that was what was heard in the clip.

Ego the Living Planet is also a role that he is the most excited about at the moment as well. Russell expressed that he has never played a character like that and that it was a great thing to be able to say at his age.

The sequel to Guardians of the Galaxy will not only continue the team’s adventures together, but it will also be about Peter Quill/Star Lord finding out who his father really is.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Michael Rooker, Glenn Close and Sean Gunn. Other new cast members include Pom Klementieff, Chris Sullivan and Elizabeth Debicki. Sylvester Stallone is also confirmed to make an appearance.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 premieres on May 5, 2017.
