From the producers that brought us the Academy Award-Winning Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-rabbit comes Early Man movie. It is a brand new animated feature film from Aardman in partnership with Studio Canal.

According to Flickering Myth’s posted synopsis, Early Man movie will tell the story of Dug, an early caveman, and his antics all set in prehistory. Together with his sidekick, Hognob, Dug will try to unite his tribe to conquer all the challenges that the Bronze Age presents.

As seen from the sneak peek, the movie will feature Aardman’s signature stop-motion goodness. This is the same quality animation that brought characters like Shaun the Sheep to life, if not better.

What is more, Aardman’s partnership with Studio Canal proved to be very lucrative. Early Man movie is a product co-financed by the said studio, and will manage releases that fall under their territory (like in the UK, France, Germany, Australia and New Zealand).

The movie is to be helmed by no less than Award-Winning director Nick Park. He is credited to be the creator of Wallace and Gromit, Aardman’s flagship characters and a popular franchise in and of itself. They also found popularity in Shaun the Sheep, which started as a TV series but later had its own full-length feature film.

It was confirmed that the main character, Dug, will be voiced by Academy Award-Winning actor Eddie Redmayne. Besides this little tidbit, news about the rest of the cast has been scarce. However, further announcement with regards to the casting is expected to be announced in the next few months.

The release dates have also been revealed for a select few regions. According to Aardman’s official site, the dates are as follows:

UK: Jan. 26, 2018
France: Jan. 31, 2018
Germany: March 29, 2018
Australia/NZ: March 29, 2018

With experienced people on the helm, Early Man movie promises to be a fun romp. The relatively cheery atmosphere in spite of its prehistoric setting shows both a fresh and familiar experience for moviegoers of all ages.
