‘Outlander’ Deleted Extended Scenes: Fans Upset Over Heartbreaking Jamie Claire Scene Cut Out

Outlander’s deleted extended scenes reveal Jamie and Claire’s sorrow. And fans are angered for the scenes not making into the cut. Raw pain and emotion of the two are painful, yet beautiful, to witness.

In the seventh episode of Outlander Season 2 titled Faith, Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) had a stillborn baby girl named Faith. A scene of the two despairing over the loss of their child is heartbreaking, but it did not make it to the final cut. This Outlander deleted extended scenes are making rounds on social media and fans are furious that it was not shown in the episode.

As Claire struggles to keep it together and remain strong, Jamie tells her not to bear the agony alone. He tells her the only way they can live with it is to carry it together.

Claire asks him if he is sure he wants to do that. He responds that he has given her his “body and soul.” With that, she informs him she wants him to bring her home, “To Scotland.”

Fans have expressed how the powerful scene of seeing Jamie and Claire’s raw pain in losing their child should have been shown. Even Outlander’s director Metin Hüseyin wrote on Twitter and showed disappointment on why the scenes were not aired to the final cut.

He says he does not know why the scene did not make it when Caitriona and Sam magnificently carried the weight of “previous twenty episodes” into those scenes.

Diana Gabaldon, author of the Outlander novels where the show is based from, agrees to Hüseyin. She tweeted that she is glad the Outlander deleted extended scenes, at least, got to be seen.

Meanwhile, fans can watch The Making of Outlander: The Series: The Official Guide to Seasons One & Two on Oct. 18 while waiting for the new season of Outlander with a yet-to-be released premiere date.
