‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and Doctor Strange: ‘He’s Going to Be an Avenger’ Says Benedict Cumberbatch

However slow it may seem, the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War is coming in soon, and is one of the biggest movies in the MCU. Doctor Strange star Benedict Cumberbatch states that the mystical superhero is going to be an Avenger.

In a U.K. press event for Doctor Strange, Cumberbatch was asked about whether or not Doctor Strange will become one of the Avengers for Avengers: Infinity War. Cumberbatch responded that during the premiere, which is also his first time seeing the movie, there is a scene at the end that made him realize that yes, Doctor Strange is going to be an Avenger.

So how would that link Doctor Strange to the events that will happen in Avengers: Infinity War?

The Avengers were previously split into two after the events in Captain America: Civil War. It goes without saying that they will all have to reunite and work together again to go against Thanos. Doctor Strange could make the reuniting of the two sides together happen in Avengers: Infinity War.

Cumberbatch revealed in another interview that instead of taking sides between Captain America and Iron Man, Doctor Strange would help them both. This is because Doctor Strange goes up against mystical and supernatural forces that are beyond the perceptions of both heroes.

In short, Doctor Strange has more important things to worry about than the innocence of Bucky Barnes and the Sokovia Accords. But Doctor Strange also has someone from his own “team” join in on the war. It was confirmed that Benedict Wong will also be appearing in Avengers: Infinity War.

In other news, Vin Diesel confirmed the appearance of the Guardians of the Galaxy as well. Spider-Man’s appearance in Avengers: Infinity War has yet to be determined. The possibility of the TV characters The Defenders; Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and Daredevil appearing has also yet to be determined.

Avengers: Infinity War is scheduled to premiere on May 4, 2018.
