Black Friday Amazon 2016 Kicks Off Early; Other Retailers to Follow Weeks in Advance?

Black Friday, Amazon

The Amazon Black Friday deal offerings have gotten off to a brisk start in 2016, and other major retailers may be opting not to be left behind.

Black Friday begins right after Thanksgiving which is celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November in the US. Sales is spurred by customers’ desire to get good deals at less cost, without having to go through the maddening Christmas holiday rush.

Across the world, other countries including France, Australia, Mexico, UK and India, among others, have adapted the Black Friday retail sales scheme.

The long-running American electronic commerce that started out as an online bookstore has jumpstarted pre-Black Friday special offers in order to garner more market share, as a retail analyst noted.

Like in past years, Amazon caters to all ages spanning pre-teens to millennials who grew up with technology like state-of-the-art mobile phones and other gadgets, to baby boomers as well as senior on the prowl for great bargains.

Amazon’s top guns disclosed that apart from the company’s regular low-priced electronics, DVD, magazine subscription, toy and fashion items, there are also homemakers’ delights ranging from stylish kitchen essentials plus a wide array of gift options.

In the past years, brand leaders have put the lid on details of their special offers until the last hours before Black Friday. These days consumers find ways to know in advance the deals they can possibly have.

Online retail giants like Amazon may have set the stage for the frenzied holiday shopping weeks ahead of Black Friday week. Nonetheless, an increasing number of consumers prefer an unharried pace in getting their Thanksgiving and pre-Christmas shopping done.

Surprisingly, companies like Marks & Spencer, whose approach to holiday cheer has been somewhat less intrusive in the past, has lost no time in updating its site and bracing for the holiday spending ahead.

Apart from bed & bath items and fashion items, Marks & Spencer may be sought out again, as what happened last year, for its hefty Black Friday discounts on stuff like Fitbit wireless heart rate activity wristband and wine.  Such gadgets also abound on the Amazon website.

Indeed, this early, online may be how many consumers will choose to buy gifts. Amazon and other online retailers have realized that spreading shipment of orders into early November will redound to customer satisfaction.
