Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard stars in a new romance thriller film directed by Robert Zemeckis. Paramount has recently launched the teaser trailer of the movie, which will be shown on Nov. 23. Will this Allied movie and the chemistry of Brad and Marion on screen win Zemeckis another Oscars?
Allied, his new film, could be the perfect movie for the perfect time. Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard, both Oscar winners, portray an intelligence officer and a French resistance fighter who, while fighting with the Nazis during World War II, find romance in the process. Steven Knight, who is also an Oscar winner for his original script for Dirty Pretty Things in 2002, made the screenplay for Allied. The film is produced along with Oscar winners Graham King (The Departed) and Steve Starkey for Forrest Gump.
Robert Zemeckis is the man behind movies like Forrest Gump, Back to the Future, The Polar Express, A Christmas Carol, Flight, The Walk, Cast Away, and Death Becomes Her, among others. Forrest Gump and Back to the Future are his defining movies that gave him Best Director at the 1995 Oscars.
Remarkably, this excellent filmmaker has only one other nomination in the Oscars: Best Original Screenplay for the hit movie Back to the Future, which he pooled with fellow filmmaker Bob Gayle. With a talent as remarkable as Zemeckis making beautiful masterpieces, it is expected that he could earn a few more nominations. His win from Forrest Gump decades ago deemed his return long overdue.
The film is both emotional and dramatic. The screenplay with all its twists and turns could also play into the dynamic of romance between Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard. The persons involved are all first-rate. The lead actors in the film gets a lot of those award-worthy moments. Moments like that of Mark Ruffalo’s great big scene in the movie Spotlight earned him a nomination for Best Supporting Actor last year.
Allied earmarks from the usual Zemeckis known movies as the special effects gave way to the character and plot development.
