The Duchess of Cambridge is in the limelight again, this time for her supposed “reaction” to Meghan Markle being hailed as “the next Kate Middleton” by a prestigious international magazine. The two high-profile women really have more in common than they may care to admit.
Meghan is undoubtedly the current Hollywood “It girl” who snagged Prince Harry’s heart. Though brimming with extra wattage for her Hollywood projects and humanitarian involvements, Meghan has not escaped the blinding media glare in much the same other women linked to the British royal had not been spared tabloid attention.
An entertainment site recently reported that though Kate was said to have been flattered when Vogue headlined a central idea that Meghan Markle could possibly be the “next Kate Middleton,” the Duchess of Cambridge had some concerns. Word has it that Kate did not like it one bit, more so since Prince Harry’s rumored girlfriend has been constantly on the spotlight even if she does not have “princess” status.
Kate’s detractors opined that she has become so accustomed to being the center of attention in the British royal family, and has even taken delight in being described as following in the footsteps of the late Princess Diana as far as her keen fashion style is concerned.
Meghan, for her part, is in an industry that prompts its actresses to continually explore makeover or vanity magic tricks. Hence, she may need to rely on a coterie of stylists and other fashion & beauty advisers to look good during filming and red carpet events.
What Vogue took notice of is that while Kate can make heads turn with her “mix of polished and affordable pieces,” Meghan has been able to strike a balance between “sexy and stately” in her wardrobe choices, as the occasion demands. The fashion and lifestyle publication did not discount the possibility that the Suits actress may soon be setting “a few trends of her own.”
Whether Prince William’s busy wife truly feels threatened or overshadowed by Meghan Markle’s increasing popularity remains unconfirmed. What Queen Elizabeth II does probably favor is for the British royals, notably Kate Middleton and Prince Harry, to veer away from doing things that immediately translate to tabloid gossip. Kate and Meghan may be poles apart in personalities, but both have to endure the public’s prying eyes when it comes to fashion, relationships, activities — on their own or with their significant others.
