Nexus 5 is still one of the best Android phones right now. If one wants to use the Android 7.1 Nougat operating system, then we have the steps to install the latest OS on the said device.
Google confirmed its release of the latest OS for Nexus devices as well as other Android capable-phones; however, Nexus handsets got the first spot in their priority list. Furthermore, it was reported that Nexus devices will always have the upgraded version of the firmware before other phone companies.
It is easy to see how many users have still been using the Nexus 5 prior to the release of update.But since this is a completely new OS, they also wanted to experience its different features. The newly developed ROM for Nexus 5 is the only solution the users have to operate Android 7.1 Nougat on their devices.
To install the ROM, first download the newest USB drivers for the device. Take note that the device needs to be rooted for this to work. As a preventive measure, install CWM recovery tool as a back-up in case something goes wrong with the installation process.
After downloading the ROM files, turn the device off then boot into recovery mode. You can perform this by pressing the home and power buttons as well as the volume up keys. Hold them down all at the same time.
After this, reset the device from the CWM menu then select Factory Reset. Once done, go back to the previous screen to start the installation. Look for the ROM files from the where it is downloaded earlier, run it, then confirm to begin the installation. When the process is complete, restart the device. The Nexus 5 should have an Android 7.1 Nougat operating system running.
