Carrie Fisher’s Revealing Recollections Behind-the-Scenes of ‘Star Wars’ in Memoir

Carrie Fisher, Princess Leia, Star Wars

Carrie Fisher’s revelations behind-the-scenes of the original Star Wars flicks may have sent shock waves back in the 1970s. Today, the real-life accounts are an engaging read. In her memoir, The Princess Diarist, the actress shared snippets of her life before and after she was cast as Princess Leia in the blockbuster flicks.

Carrie wrote that she liked being in the Star Wars films, as they were “fun to make.” The actress, now 60, also pondered, “Who do I think I would’ve been if I hadn’t been Princess Leia?”

Star Wars was, and now continues to be, her job, Carrie Fisher said in her new book.

Carrie had penned another book, Wishful Drinking, years back, whereby she also shared stories about her celebrity parents and her musings about the first film.

The book contained an amusing excerpt: “When I got this great job to end all jobs, which truly I never thought I would get because there were all these other beautiful girls who were up for the part… they told me I had to lose 10 pounds. I weighed about 105 pounds at the time but carried about 50 of those in my face. So you know what a good idea would be? Give me a hairstyle that further widens my already wide face.”

The actress, who had played the princess and leader of the Rebel Alliance with aplomb, also revealed that she and co-star Harrison Ford had “an intense romantic relationship” on the set of the original Star Wars movie. It was a long, long time ago, where filming about a galaxy far, far away took place. When filming finished, so did the affair. She concealed it for years.

“It’s not like anyone’s deeply affected by it anymore” the actress-author said.

Carrie Fisher reprises her role as Princess Leia anew as she rejoins the current crop of actors plus some of the older cast members that include Mark Hamill in Star Wars Episode 8,  which will hit  cinemas in December 2017.
