Golden Globes 2017 was a big night for Emma Stone, co-star Ryan Gosling and all the chaps behind the movie La La Land. From swooping a major award, awkward hugs to an ex-boyfriend’s standing ovation, it was one sure colorful night for the bubbly actress.
Golden Globes 2017 Wins
La La Land swept Golden Globes and broke the record for getting the most wins for a movie.
They won the Best Motion Picture for Musical or Comedy and Best Screenplay for Motion Picture. Moreover, the film’s director, Damien Chazelle, snagged the top honor for Best Director.
And of course, the musical also won Best Original Score and Best Original Song in City of Stars.
Meanwhile, La La Land’s lead stars Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling each won the Best Actress and Best Actor award, respectively, for a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy.
Emma Stone Goes On-Stage
When Emma was announced as the winner, The Amazing Spider-Man actress’ ex-boyfriend Andrew Garfield, who played Spider-Man in the said movie, gave her a standing ovation which was captured on Twitter.
It is known that the two kept an amicable relationship even after their separation over a year ago. Emma even admits that Andrew remains to be someone she loves very much during an interview with Vogue in October.
In her acceptance speech, she says the movie is for “dreamers” and that “hope and creativity” are the world’s most important things.
Denied For A Hug
Meanwhile, an awkward event also happened. When director Chazelle was announced the winner, he stood up while well-wishers barraged to hug him.
After doing a side-hug with from Ryan Gosling, Emma moved to Chazelle for her turn. However, Emma was intercepted by Chazelle’s date, actress Olivia Hamilton.
Emma’s reaction was priceless as she was quick to apologize for that “weird” moment, as she appeared to say on the video.
