'Outlander' Season 3: Caitriona Balfe Teases 'Really Beautiful' Yet 'Very Fraught' Jamie-Claire Reunion

Caitriona Balfe reveals the much-anticipated reunion of Jamie and Claire in Outlander Season 3 is “really beautiful.” But will the reunion of the time travel-afflicted lovers not be without some awkwardness?

In Separate Worlds

The Irish actress and model informed The Wrap that “stories are quite separate” when Outlander returns to our screens, as what Caitriona reckons everyone knows already. In the Season 2 finale, Jamie and Claire were separated and 20 years will take before they will see each other again.

Caitriona Balfe promises that we will see “Jamie’s story, and what he has gone through in 20 years.” Meanwhile, there will also be bits of “Claire and Frank” and “Claire and Brianna” in Outlander Season 3.

“It’s just so different,” Caitriona shares. But moreover, it would be exciting to see Claire as a professional doctor and surgeon as teased by the actress.

Caitriona also adds in an interview with ELLE that her story will pick up where it left off in Season 2. This means viewers will “see definitely some Tobias Menzies.”

But while Jamie and Claire’s story will be separated at first, even Caitriona admits that those two cannot be kept apart because “there will be a reunion” – of course, says the 37-year-old actress.

Caitriona spills that the reunion of the lovers separated by time is “really beautiful.” Also, it is very “interesting” as Cait poses a question on how it would be for two people to come together after being separated for 20 years while believing each other is dead.

“How do you build something real again?” Caitriona then asks.

Just like any other long-distance relationship, meeting the person you love after some time will be “kind of complicated,” which Cait loves.

According to Caitriona Balfe, the reunion will also be “very fraught.” The aftermath of not seeing each other after a long time will consist of many “expectations,” things one think they will say, and an image of how it will go.

However, things do not always go according to our plans with Cait saying that “life’s never like that.”

But there is no need, yet, to prematurely worry over the relationship of Jamie and Claire since Caitriona Balfe teases that the reunion “might be a little bit” steamy in Outlander Season 3.
