With the huge success that came from the first Avatar movie, director James Cameron has plans for Avatar 2, 3, 4, and even 5. Details about the sequels might probably be hinted by Toruk, the Avatar prequel.
Over the course of 10 years, James Cameron plans to flesh out the four Avatar sequels, which is no easy feat. But of course, the award-winning director has been known to go above and beyond in his films.
As for the sequel’s cast, Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang and Sigourney Weaver are to reprise their roles, but so far, no new faces have been confirmed to join. According to Variety, fans of the film will be able to spot some easter eggs at Cameron’s Toruk , a prequel to Avatar in the form of a Cirque du Soleil show. From the costumes to the plot, many elements from the Cirque du Soleil show will be found in the movies.
As for the plot of Avatar 2, or the plots of Avatars 2, 3, 4, and 5, nothing much has been revealed so far, but Cinema Blend says that Cameron is not only trying to further develop the script, he is also possibly trying to gather all the technology he needs in order to recreate what he did in the first film.
The only thing Cameron mentioned that the sequel would introduce everyone to new worlds, habitats and cultures. This means more new characters.
This would prove to be a great challenge for the director; however if there was a director who could what would seem to be impossible, it would be him.
For release dates, Avatar 2 is scheduled to be released on December 2018. Avatar 3‘s release date is in December 2020 and Avatar 4 is in 2022. Lastly, the last Avatar sequel, Avatar 5, will be out in 2023.
