A few months after being announced as the newest addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, award-winning actress Brie Larson talks about the important message that the upcoming Captain Marvel movie will bring to young girls everywhere.
During the Toronto International Film Festival, Brie Larson, who is playing the role of Captain Marvel herself, expressed excitement towards the movie. In an interview with the Toronto Sun, she says, “I think what Captain Marvel represents, and what this film is shaping up to be, has a message that is undeniably important to the world..And obviously Marvel is such an incredible platform to be able to share in storytelling.”
Prior to that, she describes her job as an “act of service,” so it is not surprising at all that she had landed the role. Carol Danvers after all, has super strength, flight and the ability to project energy. The audience during her big reveal could not be any more pleased with Marvel’s decision.
In an interview with Space, Brie Larson says that the movie is a great symbol for young girls everywhere. “I realized what a deficit we have, that we don’t have more of those. I think it’s really cool to see a girl in a Batman costume or a Spider-man costume, but I’m really excited that there’s a symbol of women. I think that’s really important.”
Aside from Larson getting cast and the official logo for the Captain Marvel movie being released during the 2016 SDCC, there is already an expected premiere date in 2019.
By then, Captain Marvel movie will officially be the first film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a sole female superhero. She is also rumored to make an appearance in another MCU film, most likely Avengers: Infinity War Part 1.
The Captain Marvel movie is scheduled to premiere on March 8, 2019.
