A mini-reunion of sorts is going to happen on the set of Thor: Ragnarok as Sam Neill has been announced as the newest addition to the cast.
Known for playing Dr. Alan Grant in the Jurassic Park movies, Neill has stated in an interview with Short List that he filmed his bits on Thor: Ragnarok. As for the role, he was not allowed to say and he said that he had to sign a number of things.
“If I say anything else, Marvel’s secret agents, and they are lethal, will come and get me and probably my children, as well,” he said.
Neill will be reuniting with director Taika Waititi, who also directed his other movie titled Hunt for the Wilderpeople. He will also be reuniting with Jurassic Park co-star Jeff Goldblum, who was recently announced to be joining the cast and will be playing Grandmaster.
As for Jurassic Park, many are wondering if he will be making a cameo in the Jurassic World sequel to which he replied that Dr. Alan Grant might now be a retired paleontologist and “sick to death of dinosaurs and running.” He also mentioned that no one would know where he is anymore since the movies.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the plot details for Thor: Ragnarok are still unknown but the Hulk gladiator armor shown at SDCC references a Planet Hulk arc. The title may also have something to do with the concept of the end of the world in Norse mythology.
Other additions to the cast of Thor: Ragnarok include Cate Blanchett, Tessa Thompson and Karl Urban. Chris Hemsworth will be back as Thor and Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba and Anthony Hopkins are confirmed to reprise their roles. Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner/Hulk is also going to appear.
Thor: Ragnarok premieres on Nov. 3, 2017.
