The tiny hero will be back in Ant-Man and the Wasp in 2018. Michael Pena is confirmed to join the cast again as filming will soon commence.
Pena is taking the role of Luis, Scott’s buddy, who made audiences laugh at his funny antics in the first film. He will be joining Paul Rudd, who plays the protagonist Scott Lang, the former petty criminal and systems engineer at VistaCorp and then became Ant-Man.
Hope van Dyne will finally become the Wasp in the sequel and Evangeline Lilly will be back to reprise the role.
Michael Douglas is expected to come back, says The Global Dispatch, but he was originally not under contract for multiple films. Negotiations with the actor to return for his role is expected. He plays Hank Pym, the original Ant-Man in 1963 and mentor of Scott.
Additionally, Sharon Stone is said to join Ant-Man and the Wasp. She will most likely take the role of Janet Van Dyne, the wife of Hank Pym, who is believed to have died in the previous film. The character was played by Hayley Lovitt, who made a nonspeaking cameo in Ant-Man.
Peyton Reed will once again direct the superhero film. He says he is excited to do the movie, especially emphasizing on the Wasp’s crucial part in the story. Playing around the aspect of Wasp and Ant-Man’s “partnership, a romantic partnership as well as a hero team” is going to be fun according to the Yes Man director.
There is still no concrete details regarding Ant-Man and the Wasp‘s plot but filming will come underway early next year. Some speculations on the film’s plot are already arising. One is a possible introduction of the Young Avengers, says moviepilot.com. The Young Avengers is “a team of young, Avenger-affiliated heroes.”
Then again, these speculations will only be confirmed once the movie is filmed.
Ant-Man and the Wasp is expected to hit theatres on July 6, 2018.
