It has been an ongoing rumor that Cyborg will appear in The Flash movie this 2018. Director Rick Famuyiwa might have just subtly confirmed it.
On Monday, the director posted a photo of a draft for The Flash’s script on his Twitter account. Two feet of two Funko Pop figures can be seen peeking from the photo – one from the Flash’s, the other from Cyborg’s.
To prime audiences of Cyborg’s solo movie, Variety has confirmed the possibility of the Cyborg’s appearance in the film. On how big his role is going to be or whether he will just do a cameo, there is no details yet.
With the director’s tease though, ScreenCrush pointed out that Cyborg’s role would not be small.
Before The Flash movie, moviegoers will already see Flash and Cyborg together in Justice League this 2017 as Ben Affleck’s Batman recruits the two.
DC makes less well-known characters’ appear in the more familiar films to build up the audiences’ interest for their upcoming standalone movies.
Justice League and The Flash‘s executive producer Deborah Snyder said Ezra Miller (Flash) and Ray Fisher (Cyborg) are the youngest characters in the DC Extended Universe, which led the two have a good camaraderie with each other.
She adds Miller as Flash is “really funny,” which makes the tone of his film very different than the rest of the DC superhero movies.
The Flash stars Ezra Miller as the police scientist Barry Allen who later turns into The Flash after getting soaked in chemicals hit by a bolt of lightning while working on his lab during a stormy night.
Other casts include Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising‘s Kiersey Clemons as Iris West and Watchmen‘s Billy Crudup as Henry Allen.
Ray Fisher will take the role of Victor Stone and Cyborg, a high school athlete turned into a half-human, half-machine after being in a fatal accident. Fisher’s Cyborg already had a brief appearance in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.
The Flash movie is set to start filming in early 2017 and targets a March 16, 2018 release date.
