Some iconic landmarks are about to get blown up in the newest installment of the Transformers franchise. Spoilers indicate that for Transformers 5: The Last Knight, Stonehenge is blown to bits.
As shown by the photos on the Daily Mail, Stonehenge became one of the landmarks that will become part of the fifth Transformers movie. Of course, that is not the real Stonehenge but a life-sized replica. The general public are not allowed within 10 yards of the 5,000-year old monument.
Why the Stonehenge is being recreated in an explosive scene is unknown, but there are rumors going around that the site serves as a portal/key hole in the movie. The key is the sword that Mark Wahlberg’s character was seen holding. Wahlberg and co-star Laura Haddock were also seen in military clothing.
Another set of spoilers for Transformers 5: The Last Knight by Seibertron reveal that Anthony Hopkins was also at the scene, referring to a possibly CGI-ed character. Hopkins’ appearance refutes the rumors that have been circulating around the internet of him only voicing a character.
However, not everyone was pleased about the monument’s depiction in the movie. A pagan leader who claims that he is a reincarnation of King Arthur took it as offensive. Arthur Uthur Pendragon stated that it is disrespecting “the spirit of our ancestors” and should not be honoring the Transformers.
Previously, the film was being criticized for a similar nature. As production moved to Blenheim Palace, the producers decorated the birthplace of Winston Churchill in Nazi flags.
Michael Bay returns to direct Transformers 5: The Last Knight. It also stars Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Stanley Tucci, Isabella Moner, Jerrod Carmichael, Liam Garrigan, Mitch Pileggi and Santiago Cabrera. Peter Cullen reprises his role as the voice of Optimus Prime.
Transformers 5: The Last Knight premieres on June 23, 2017.
