The upcoming Power Rangers movie reboot is up for 2017 and more updates are coming up, from the ranger suits to the zords. This time, another update comes in the form of the Red Ranger’s power sword.
According to ComicBookMovie.com, Saban has released a photo giving everyone a glimpse of what the Red Ranger’s power sword is going to look like just in time for New York Comic Con along with a preview of the Red Ranger figure. Like the original series, the look of the new weapon matches the new suit.
According to ScreenRant, the look of the new Red Ranger’s power sword is a lot different from the original sword back in the 90’s tv series. The new sword features a teardrop shaped blade with a circular grip and handguard. The blade also seems to be split into segments that can interconnect with each other. The sword is likely to turn into another weapon or it can be stored easily.
What the weapons of the rest of the Power Rangers will look like has yet to be revealed in the coming months until the movie’s premiere in 2017.
Fans of the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers franchise previously learned about the new Power Ranger suits, which also look very different compared to the original Ranger suits. From the sleek headgear and rounded corners of the original versions to the shinier and angled suits of today.
Previous teaser photos also showed the new zords, the assault vehicles the Power Rangers use in times of need and can form into one humanoid megazord.
As for the movie’s general plot, the reboot follows five teenagers from Angel Grove who are chosen to save not only their home but the rest of the world as well upon encountering a non-human threat.
The Power Rangers movie reboot is directed by Dean Israelite and stars Dacre Montgomery, Naomi Scott, Ludi Lin, RJ Cyler, Becky Gomez, Elizabeth Banks, Bill Hader and Bryan Cranston.
Power Rangers movie premieres on March 24, 2017.
