Gilmore Girls fans rejoiced, and then immediately worried, after Netflix announced a revival is happening. Spoilers reveal even Lauren Graham was anxious at how fans would take the new show.
“I’m nervous because the expectation is too high,” the 49-year-old actress admitted to PEOPLE.com.
On Wednesday, Oct. 5, the publication caught up with Graham during the premiere of her new movie Middle School: The Worst Years of My Life in Los Angeles.
Graham, who is playing Lorelai Gilmore, says she hopes the fans can feel that “we did what we wanted to do.” Her own expectations of herself while doing it was just as high, she confessed, so fans can rest assured that everyone is passionate in the Gilmore Girls revival.
The actress also thanked everyone who went to Luke’s pop-up coffee shops. The first episode of the show debuted on Oct. 5, 2000, and to celebrate Gilmoreversary, coffee shops partnered with Netflix to be branded as Luke’s diner last Wednesday.
The coffee shops served over 250 cups of coffee for free from 7 A.M. to noon. Fans proved their coffee addiction is just the same as Rory and Lorelai’s.
Lauren Graham says she is so proud seeing the people “standing in line, meeting friends and skipping work” which just proves how hardcore Gilmore Girls’ fans are. She said it gives off “happy kind of feeling” and a “sense of community.”
Titled Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, all episodes will be named after a season – Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall.
One of the spoilers that fans can look forward to is Luke and Lorelai’s relationship. Scott Patterson, who plays Luke, previously said the two are still together. He reveals the style of writing did not change, but the tone did. The show will explore darker places that they never did before.
The show will be set in the present time thus fans can expect to see how the characters are doing after the past decade. For instance, did Rory achieved her dream of becoming a journalist? Or did something happened along the way that led her to change paths in her career?
Also, the three boys in Rory’s life will all come back, according to spoilers. Who will she end up with?
All four 90-minute Gilmore Girls revival episodes will be released simultaneously on Netflix this Nov. 25, 2016.
