The Harry Potter Cinematic Universe just keeps getting bigger and bigger. An official announcement revealed that there are five more movies to follow after Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
The official twitter account for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them tweeted the announcement made by J.K. Rowling herself during a panel at the Warner Bros. fan event streamed via Periscope, along with some of the cast of the upcoming movie.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was originally developed to be a trilogy. However, because three movies might not be enough, Warner Bros. added two more movies to the magical franchise making it a total of five to follow. J.K. Rowling remains as producer of all five films. David Yates is still on board to direct along with David Heyman and Steve Kloves who are also co-producing.
While plot details of the second movie remain unknown, it is likely that it will follow Newt Scamander right after the events of the first movie, and show a darker time ahead for the wizarding community in the world. A date has been set for the second Fantastic Beasts movie however, and it is scheduled for release on November 16, 2018, almost two years after the first movie.
Previously, the character posters for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them have been released, giving everyone a bit of information as to who is who in the upcoming movie starring Eddie Redmayne. Yates revealed during the fan event that younger versions of Albus Dumbledore and Gellert Grindelwald will be appearing in a scene between Percival Graves (Colin Farrell) and Newt in the movie.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them premieres on November 18. It also stars Carmen Ejogo, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Samantha Morton, Ezra Miller, Ron Perlman and Jon Voight.
