With the development of Jurassic World 2 underway, director J.A. Bayona hints at the possible plot for the Jurassic World sequel.
The immense success of Jurassic World has brought on a sequel in which everyone has high hopes for. In a recent interview, J.A. Bayona spoke about Jurassic World 2 and hints at the sequel’s possible plot details. Bayona stated that Jurassic World 2 “will be much darker and scarier than the first film,” and compared it to The Empire Strikes Back and The Wrath of Khan. Bayona went on to say that he was surprised himself upon knowing that the movie will take place where it has never gone before.
Bayona also said that they will be paying tribute to the Jurassic Park franchise as they take another step forward with Jurassic World 2. However dark the film may turn out to be, there will still be hints of comedy knowing that Chris Pratt is reprising his role as Owen Grady.
Other possible plot details for Jurassic World 2 were hinted by writer and co-producer Colin Trevorrow. Jurassic World 2 will also be dealing with the subject of animal abuse through how dinosaurs are treated in the movie. This will serve as a parallel to the treatment that animals today face on an everyday basis. Knowing that animal abuse is one of the themes that will be present for Jurassic World 2, then it goes without saying that it will definitely be dark and scary.
The hype is real for Jurassic World 2. wWhether or not it turns out to be as dark as both Bayona and Trevorrow hinted, it depends on the audience.
Bryce Dallas Howard is reprising her role as Claire Dearing for the sequel as will Ty Simpkins. Belen Atienza, Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley are on board to co-produce the film. Derek Connolly is also co-writing the screenplay with Trevorrow.
Jurassic World 2 is scheduled to premiere on June 22, 2018.
