‘SpongeBob Squarepants’ Allegedly Officially Cancelled; Fan Will Commit Suicide If True

By on

All good things come to an end, so does that mean that SpongeBob Squarepants is officially going to be cancelled this year?

Rumors are circulating around the internet that SpongeBob Squarepants, one of the most popular animated shows on Nickelodeon will officially be going off the air this month. It all started through a meme; a picture of Bikini Bottom’s most adored citizen with the caption “After 17 years on TV, SpongeBob Squarepants is officially being cancelled on October 17th, 2016.”

The meme went viral, and people everywhere began expressing their shock and sadness throughout all social media platforms. Some were a little doubtful on whether the news was true, since there have been no other reports nor articles about SpongeBob Squarepants getting cancelled anywhere else.

But what if the day comes that the favorite Nickelodeon show gets cancelled? Well, expect some disturbing reactions. When the rumor was still making rounds online, a lot of the fans were threatening to “cancel their subscription to life.”

“Spongebob is being canceled so I’d like to cancel my subscription to life,” a fan said.

Another also stated in similar fashion, “If spongebob is being cancelled, just go ahead & cancel my life too.”

Fortunately, Nickelodeon was quick to comment that the rumor was incredibly false and that SpongeBob Squarepants is not going to be cancelled anytime soon. The popular animated show on Nickelodeon has garnered many awards since the first time it aired back in 1999. With six Anne awards, eight Golden Reel awards and two Emmys, it is safe to say that the show does not get older, it only gets better.

A similar hoax occurred back in 2013, when rumors started going around that SpongeBob Squarepants will be going off the air in 2014. Of course, Nickelodeon proved that one false as around that time, they stated that they are preparing more episodes for the upcoming season. It goes for this year as well. Over the course of the show, SpongeBob Squarepants has already run for 10 seasons and have two movies under its belt.

Fans can still look forward to more stories from the residents of Bikini Bottom with the show’s 11th season on the way. Still, it is good to know that SpongeBob and the rest of the gang are not going to be saying goodbye anytime soon.
