Thor: Ragnarok actor Tom Hiddleston and Beauty and the Beast live action film star Emma Watson are among the popular celebrities on the crest of success in their film careers who have channeled energies to humanitarian projects. They inspire others to do the same.

Hiddleston has been quite visible social media, with public service announcements for UNICEF. He continues to increase awareness for children in need of education and schools. Over the years, he has also served as a public voice calling for support to address the hunger in Africa and has come to the defense of children caught in conflict zones.

Joining hands with the UK government, whom he believes can galvanize support from other countries for humanitarian aid, Hiddleston has been in the frontline in highlighting young people who end up suffering in the face of political conflict or natural disasters.

Emma Watson, catapulted to fame at a young age through the Harry Potter films, likewise has been involved in raising awareness about relevant issues, even as she takes on the lead for the upcoming live action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast.  Watson has been selective of film projects lately. Many believe she is perfect for the role of Belle in the big screen adaptation of the classic fairytale.

As Global Goodwill Ambassador for UN Women, Watson has touched base with young activists who have gotten involved in the fight for gender equality. During the recently One Young World Summit in Ottawa, the British actress-model had the opportunity to meet with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and other dignitaries.

Watson, 26, tweeted that it was so much fun meeting with her Ottawa gender equality scholars. Indeed, celebrities like Tom Hiddleston and Emma Watson, who inspire others to take action on pressing issues of the day is heartening to see. They prove that they are role models and are good not just onscreen but offscreen.

In Asia, Singaporean actress Felicia Chin has embarked on a fundraising campaign to help impoverished families with their children’s school care under Bethesda Care and Counselling Services. She wrote on her Instagram account that she is glad to take part in a worthy cause aimed at mentoring at-risk youths and helping nourish the elderly with daily meals.

Tom Hiddleston, Emma Watson, and other celebrities deserve noteworthy attention, as they reach out to people in need, increase awareness, and inspire others to help make a difference, too.
