Avid Star Wars fans keep wondering about Rey, the character played by Daisy Ridley, and how her role in the expanding Jedi universe will play out in Star Wars: Episode VIII (8). Of particular interest lately is her parentage, leading some people behind the new film to come out with spoilers.
Daisy Ridley, 24, has made Star Wars fanatics think that the answer lies in Star Wars: Episode VIII (8). The actress hinted that she may be solitary. That some fans surmise that she might be related in some way to Han Solo, or another solitary figure in a number of Star Wars movies – Luke Skywalker. Spoilers from other members of the cast followed.
While Rey’s parentage remains a puzzle, fans have come up with their own theories based on what they have seen in the previous films. Given her special ability to do mind tricks, that awed movie watchers in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, another possibility is that she may have blood relations with Obi-Wan Kenobi.
It can be noted that Rey’s last scene in the recent Star Wars movie showed Skywalker on the edge of a cliff with his head bowed down and looking somewhere as Rey approached. Star Wars: The Force Awakens also featured Solo’s death in the hands of the villainous Kylo Ren during a close encounter.
Apart from Ridley herself, whose intriguing responses to questions about her character can be mind-boggling, Star Wars: Episode 8 director Colin Trevorrow likewise teased fans that the answer pertaining to Rey’s identity will be highly gratifying. He stressed Rey’s importance not only in the Star Wars universe but in the entire galaxy.
Fans may have probably been scrolling the Ridley fan sites in social media for other clues. The actress deleted her Instagram account a couple of months ago, however, following harsh criticisms for her stance on a certain societal issue. Ridley later opined she needed less distractions, especially because of the very busy months ahead of her. For now, apart from the hints thrown by co-star Mark Hamill, the Rey lineage remains a big mystery.
