The search goes on at Fox as to who is going to take the reins as director for Deadpool 2. Among those directors who are supposedly considered for the project are Drew Goddard, Magnus Martens and David Leitch.
Previously, the news of director Tim Miller leaving Deadpool 2 due to creative differences shocked fans everywhere. Miller was the man behind the first Deadpool movie, which became a surprise success and resulted in Fox giving Deadpool a sequel that is scheduled for a 2018 release date.
Now that Deadpool 2 is without a director, Fox is on the hunt to find the perfect person for the job. Among those who are said to be included in the shortlist for director would be John Wick director David Leitch, who made a very strong impression when he co-directed the Keanu Reeves starred movie alongside Chad Stahelski. While Leitch is a strong contender for the role, Fox is still currently meeting with other directors.
Another director that is supposedly on the list for Deadpool 2 is Drew Goddard, who has been trying to make his directorial debut. Goddard penned the Oscar-nominated movie The Martian in which he was supposed to direct as well but turned to another project instead. Goddard was to direct the villain-centric Sinister Six until Sony shelved the project and worked with Marvel to make the new Spider-Man movies.
Another director apparently considered for Deadpool 2 is Magnus Martens, who has been directing episodes of shows such as Power, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Luke Cage, 12 Monkeys and Banshee. Martens was also at the helm as director of the movie Jackpot which now has a Hollywood remake.
Meanwhile, Fox is also on the lookout for who to cast alongside Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool as the mutants Cable and Domino, with many actors and actresses on the list for the parts. A petition is also going around asking for Quentin Tarantino to direct.
