‘Star Wars: Episode 8’ Spoilers: The Inner Conflict of Kylo Ren

By on

Kylo Ren is without a doubt one of the most memorable characters in the sequel trilogy of Star Wars. Spoilers suggest that in Star Wars: Episode 8, Kylo Ren’s inner conflict may be explored even further.

Kylo Ren is starting to become one of the big bad villains as seen in The Force Awakens. However, it is also apparent that he feels very conflicted, which may be developed further in Star Wars: Episode 8.

In the scene where he talks to Darth Vader’s burned helmet, Kylo Ren mentions that while he is in the dark side of the Force, he still feels the light pulling him out of there. Spoilers indicate that his struggle with both sides of the Force will be what turns Kylo Ren into the villain that he can and will end up being.

That conflict is made obvious especially when Kylo Ren faces his father Han Solo. He tells Han that he wants to be free from the pain and that he is being torn apart, and that he does not know if he is strong enough to do what he knows he has to do.

All this before he stabs Han Solo in the chest with his lightsaber. Kylo Ren’s expression turns into one of guilt and regret, that maybe he should never have turned to the dark side, turned on his former master and uncle Luke and estranged himself from his own mother Leia.

He is quick to snap out of it to come after Finn and Rey, resulting in the moment where he tells Rey that he could show her the Force and teach her the ways while they battle each other.

More spoilers also indicate that Kylo Ren may also don a new costume for Star Wars: Episode 8. The change in appearance can also be to symbolize that he has chosen a side and has fully committed himself to it.

Meanwhile, a new kind of stormtrooper is said to be debuting in Star Wars: Episode 8 called the Executioner. The Empire stormtroopers from the original trilogy are also said to be returning to march down the halls of The First Order.

Star Wars: Episode 8 is scheduled to premiere on December 15, 2017.
