Google has continuously been improving their major update for Android. Recently, the company has just released Nougat Developer Preview 2 to support some devices. They clarified that the Preview is going to be the last release before they start with Android 7.1.1.
The developers said that the Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus 9, and Pixel C tablet are the only devices supported by Android 7.1 Developer Preview 2. However, Google revealed that their own products, Pixel and Pixel C handsets, already have the 7.1.1 developer features. Nexus handsets are also said to be ready for the 7.1.1 update, which on Pixel devices also brings further bug fixes present on the model.
Developer Preview 2 Final Preview Before Android 7.1.1
Prior to the release of the Android 7.1 Developer Preview 2, the previous update has limited features. Furthermore, the Developer Preview only supported Google Pixel handsets. Among the improvements that came with the previous Developer Preview were image keyboards and application shortcuts.
On the other hand, the developers have not released the full changelog about the latest version. Besides some bugs and glitches that were ironed out, no one really knows exactly what Developer Preview 2 should offer to those interested in trying out the software. What is known is that this will be the final Developer Preview before the final release of Android 7.1.1.
Sign Up For Android Beta Program to test Features in Development
For Android users who wanted to test the latest features that are still in its development phase and are candidates for a final release, Google announced earlier this year that the users can sign up for the Android Beta Program. The Developer Preview will automatically be transferred to specific handsets once they sign up. In addition to this, the company also mentioned that Android handsets other than the ones mentioned earlier will experience the latest Developer Preview 2 in the next couple of days.
