Everyone knows that the Guardians of the Galaxy will be appearing in Avengers: Infinity War, but nothing has been set in stone regarding the Guardians’ involvement after that. Vin Diesel hints that a team-up movie between characters Rocket and Groot may happen.
Recently the first trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has come out, leaving everyone hyped for the sequel of one of the newer movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Fans were more excited with the confirmation that Peter Quill and the gang will also be joining the Avengers in defeating Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War.
But, looking past Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Avengers: Infinity War, where will the Guardians be headed next? It appears Vin Diesel has some idea of what could happen to them after the events of Infinity War.
In a recent interview promoting his other movie XxX: The Return of Xander Cage, Diesel, who provides the voice of Groot, was asked whether fans could expect his character to interact with the other heroes in the MCU.
Diesel did not give a clear answer, but instead stated that a buddy movie could happen in the future. Specifically, a Rocket-Groot team-up movie. He said that it if it was up to director James Gunn, then fans could probably expect these two characters to go on a separate adventure together.
It would be an extremely doable team-up movie, considering that they made their debut in the MCU together. Plus, Rocket and Groot would provide just as many laughs together as they usually do with Peter Quill and the gang.
To add to that, Diesel hinted that Groot and the Hulk may end up butting heads as well. While James Gunn expressed that there was no plan for the Hulk to team up with the Guardians anytime soon, this might end up happening in Infinity War. Nevertheless, big things are ahead for the tree monster.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is scheduled to premiere on May 5, 2017. Avengers: Infinity War is scheduled to premiere on May 4, 2018.
