With Avengers 3: Infinity War being one of the biggest movies in the MCU, it is only fitting that Iron Man should be there. Robert Downey Jr. recently confirmed that he is part of the cast of the upcoming movie as well as his thoughts on Tom Holland’s version of Spider-Man.

In a recent interview, RDJ confirmed that he will be reprising his role as the genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist Tony Stark/Iron Man. Downey teased that they already have a date for when to start filming, and that so far he has not been released from his contract at Marvel. Downey has been with the Marvel Cinematic Universe since day one, and so far has appeared in seven movies as Iron Man, three of which were his solo films.

Eighth and Ninth Appearances as Tony Stark

Infinity War would become his ninth time appearing as Tony Stark/Iron Man as he recently finished his eighth stint in the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming movie. Downey co-stars with Tom Holland, the third actor to become the web-slinger following Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield.

Downey stated that he does not have a favorite version of Spider-Man in the movies, as he is also good friends with Maguire. But he stated that Tom Holland “is something else.” Holland’s portrayal of Peter Parker was easily one of the best parts of Captain America: Civil War. It also marked the debut of the web-slinger in the MCU.

When asked about his thoughts on Spider-Man: Homecoming, Downey expressed excitement at the way it is being re-imagined and that this is a more modern take on Spider-Man’s story. He mentioned that he was in a good mood while he filmed his parts in the movie as well, “so that must mean that it’s an excellent motion picture.”

Avengers 3: Infinity War will be premiering on May 4, 2018, while Spider-Man: Homecoming will be in theaters July 7, 2017.
