Deadpool 2 is officially off the ground once again, after the news of David Leitch taking the reins as director for the sequel. Now, producer and star Ryan Reynolds expresses interest in making a Deadpool-Wolverine team-up movie.
It took more than a decade for Reynolds to be able to get a proper Deadpool movie made for the merc with a mouth. Now that things are back on track for Wade Wilson’s next adventure, Reynolds thinks that maybe now is a good time for Wolverine to meet him again. Like many people, Reynolds wants Deadpool and Wolverine to team up again, and possibly beat each other up as they would in the comics.
The first time Deadpool was brought to life on the screen was during X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and that did not do so well. Now that Tim Miller and Reynolds redeemed the character, it is only fitting that Logan would go along for the ride again and this time on a much better scale.
There is one setback, however. Hugh Jackman is retiring from the role after his stint on Logan, his last film as the clawed mutant.
In a recent interview, Reynolds said that one of his dreams was to have Deadpool and Wolverine work together again. He said that he wants the two mutants to have a movie together, but it is going to take some work. Reynolds even called on his “internet friends” for help in rallying this cause. Knowing how successful and iconic the two mutants are, there is no doubt that Fox would be on board to see this happen.
But it is not just to sort of redeem the flop that was X-Men Origins, Reynolds said that Jackman “is one of the best human beings” and is a great guy in general.
As for Deadpool 2, Fox and the producers are still in talks as to who to cast for Deadpool’s allies Cable and Domino. Fox is also pushing ahead for Deadpool 3 as well.
