Outlander emerges as the big winner in the recently concluded 2017 People’s Choice Awards for the TV category bagging four major awards. Stars Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan immediately thanked fans in a cheeky video.

The hit Starz series won the coveted Favorite TV Show beating other popular tv shows like Grey’s Anatomy, Stranger Things, The Walking Dead and last year’s winner The Big Bang Theory. The show was also named as the Favorite Premium Sci-Fi/Fantasy Show.

Meanwhile, leading stars Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan each won the title for the Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy Actress and Actor. However, the two were not able to attend the awards show as they are currently filming for Outlander Season 3.

Despite the absence, Cait and Sam thanked their fans through a video. Sam admitted that they wish they were there to receive the award, yet Caitriona explains that they are busy filming as of the moment. They also commended their fans for being the “best.”

Caitriona also sweetly added their fans must “have the sorest thumbs” especially since they won through people’s votes. Sam cheekily jumped in that their fans might probably really have “no thumbs left.”

Hard Work Paid Off

The author Diana Gabaldon, whose books is behind the hit time travel TV series, previously shared the hard work of all the cast and crew. They even sacrificed their Christmas break from having six weeks to only two weeks just to give way for filming.

With the awards they received, their hard work really paid off. Many were stunned as it is the first time for a cable show to win such big award like the Favorite TV Show.

Meanwhile, production is in full-on shooting mode. It is reported that the crew will return to Ayrshire and head towards Dunure Castle for filming in the village.

Councilor Bill Grant, a tourism supervisor, expresses he is “delighted at the wisdom of the network” for deciding to film in Dunure. He boasted the “fabulous” view of the coastline and the backdrop of the castle. Grant also offered “fantastic choices” for the casts’ accommodations and food.

To date, there is still no announcement on when Outlander Season 3 will return to the screens. But all the preparation and teases proves there is much to anticipate for the third season of the time-traveling drama.
