The research was conducted with 14,402 participants of both genders (between the ages of 35 to 79) from the small region in Italy called Molise from 2005 to 2010. Additionally, a number of 8,964 men and women (aged 18 to 96) from over the country were recruited around between 2011 and 2013.
The analysis of the results is emphasized on the correlation of pasta intake with the participant’s body mass index (BMI) and hip-to-waist ratio. Both men and women linked with pasta consumption from the varying ages are found to have smaller waist circumference and lower BMI and waist-to-hip ratio.
As long as people stay within their recommended nutritional intake in accordance to their personal calorie needs, there is lesser risk of obesity. This means the more the people eat pasta, the less they gain weight based on the study.
