Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently announced the birth of his second child with philanthropist Priscilla Chan. With this development, people are wondering if he will slow down a bit and realign some of the plans he eagerly lined up at the start of 2017.

Mark shared on Facebook that he wanted to personally hear more of the voices of people to see how they are living, working and thinking about the future. “It will help me lead the work at Facebook and the Chan-Zuckerberg Initiative so we can make the most positive impact as the world enters an important new period,” the tech titan wrote.

Mark had written about taking road trips with Priscilla this year — to universities, to places where scientists and teachers do their work as well as fun places.  Mark Zuckerberg’s main business, after all, pertains to technology and connectivity.

New Dad Makes Huge Investments

It was right after Mark and Priscilla welcomed the birth of their first child Max that they made huge investments in education and scientific research with the end in view of uncovering new therapies to contain the world’s known diseases. In December 2015, the couple (through an open letter for their firstborn) pledged to donate 99 percent of their Facebook shares, valued at $45 billion, to their new organization that had the structure of a limited liability company.

The Chan-Zuckerberg Initiative is a philanthropic firm focused on health and education and intent on harnessing as well as advancing the human potential.  The worst harm, though, may come from the best intentions. It can be noted that Facebook’s chief executive had often been the subject of sharp criticisms, mostly from media people, who opine that Mark Zuckerberg’s altruism helps himself.

Twice Blessed

Mark’s announcement of baby number two elicited an outpouring of love and support from his throng of followers. Some individuals lauded his philanthropy and willingness to give back to society a huge chunk of his wealth.

Mark’s colleagues, including Facebook Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg, wrote that she could not be happier for the Zuckerbergs. Many of Mark’s online followers shared their sentiments on having two girls.  One said it can be quite thrilling and fulfilling watching two girls grow up and evolving into best friends.

Like most parents, Mark and Priscilla fervently wish that their second bundle of joy will be healthy. Mark then expressed happiness that  Max and our new baby will have each other.”
